Our Story

How Colley Avenue Chiropractic & Bodyworks is different.

Over 10 years in practice we've realized that most patients come to see us because they want someone to help them understand what's causing their pain. Because once they have that understanding they know we can help them develop a comprehensive plan, both inside our office and out, to overcome it.

Our patients have come to recognize that the "magic pills" aren't so magical, and a schedule of planned visits isn't the same as a treatment plan.

At Colley Avenue Chiropractic and Bodyworks we use evidence based principles to develop treatment plans that include some of the most effective massage, physical therapy and chiropractic treatments to get you back to doing the things you love.

As chiropractors we are known for the treatment of back pain, neck pain and headaches, but we are trained in the treatment of all types of neuromusculoskeletal pain. We are trained in the treatment of pain in the extremities, the arms and the legs, as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long will the first appointment take?

A: How long your first appointment takes will, to some extent, be up to you. Usually it takes about 10-15 minutes to finish the intake paperwork. Downloading and finishing your paperwork before your appointment often means getting to see the doctor earlier and that paperwork can be found by clicking the button below. The history and exam usually takes 15-30 minutes, depending on the how many areas of pain you have and the complexity of the underlying conditions.

Q: Are you accepting new patients?

A: Yes! We are in network with most major insurers, if we are not in network we can give you what you need to file for reimbursement with your insurance company on your own behalf.

Q: Do you accept Walk-ins?

A: We do accept walk-ins, but rarely can accommodate same day visits, much less an immediate visit. We will always prioritize scheduled patients over walk-ins. It is always best if you call us ahead of time to schedule your first appointment!

Q: Do you adjust infants and minor children?

A: Dr. Ryan is trained in chiropractic pediatrics and adjusted his youngest son within minutes of his birth! The way we adjust children, especially infants, is very different than the way we adjust most adults though. Much less force is required and the "popping" sound that many adults associate with adjustments are never heard in infants.

Q: Can you adjust pregnant people?

A: Yes! In fact a large percentage of our patients are pregnant due to our partnership with Empower: A Birth Collective, which is owned and operated by Dr. Ryan's wife. During her pregnancy with our youngest child Hope Metivier-Rooyakkers received, weekly adjustments. In the past we have even gone in to adjust patients who are in labor!

Q: How about postpartum people?

A: We frequently adjust postpartum people, but how long after your child's birth you should wait depends on a variety of factors. We recommend you call and schedule a discussion with the doctor to discuss your options. We also recommend that you have a discussion with your OB, midwive, or other birthing professional as well.

Q: Can I get a massage if I'm pregnant?

A: All of our massage therapists are trained in peripartum massage. Please call ahead for availability!
